Redesigned Toms

 So this dear thing called Pinterest has inspired me to do more DIY projects. So my first project is redesigned or upholstered Toms. I bought them about 2 years ago and they are covered in a knitted design, so naturally they'll start to unravel and get holes in them. Holes are in no way appealing so covering them was a must.

This is the finished project. And unfortunately I don't have progress pictures but all I did was get some fabric glue and fabric and glue it on. I also folded the edges in to keep it from fraying. I had to secure the glued fabric with pins until it dried and I added buttons for a bit of flare. I also matched the direction of the knitted stripes with my black and white striped fabric to give it that authentic Toms feel.

GNOMES, Gnomes, gnomes...

Well with the relocation of Crestwood's own personal Garden Gnome (really Laura W.) an idea formed for a fundraiser for Ty and myself so we can travel with iGo. And of course it has to do with gnomes!! It is like "Flocking of Flamingos" (http://www.fundraising-ideas.org/DIY/flamingo.htm) just with Gnomes... 

SOOOOOOO...... 

#1 We need a catchy name for our traveling Gnomes. My dad suggested Gnome Gnation and having all of our gnomes have different professions. So far on that we have a Rodeo Gnome and possibly and Priest. Ha ha. But Flocking of Flamingos sounds pretty awesome, our Gnomes deserve awesomeness too!

#2 We need gnomes or gardening pots. With lack of gnomes I do not believe that we will be successful. We're thinking we'll need about fifty. If you're wondering why pots keep reading...

#3 We already have two Gnomes.

This is our first gnome, Jones. We found him on the 50% off table at Ritter. My sister and I painted him yesterday instead of going to the football game. The paint brought him to life! He is our little rodeo guy!

This is our second gnome, Ower. We made him out of gardening pots!! His name came from the WOW website (if you can't figure out what that means, don't worry about it...) This is the one my dad said could pass as a priest, just because his hat is so tall. Trying to figure out how to do everything took awhile about three hours overall. Future ones should go faster for sure.

Sink or Swim

There comes a time when you are no longer under leadership and aren’t guided with what to do. At that time you have to decide whether or not to sink or swim.
Swimming is not the easiest thing to do because it takes more of your time, energy, and sanity. You are put in tough situations and have to think quickly. You must lead, fight, and work harder than you have before. Your burden is greater because people other than yourself are depending on you. But you must earn their trust and respect. You are held at a higher standard and are twice as responsible. But you have the chance to teach others to swim as well!
Sinking isn’t all daisies either. You are forced to see everyone else sink as well; a puddle of death slowly embracing you. A straight identifier of a sinker is they may try to swim but give up to easily resulting back to where they were before. Your burden is just yourself and no other. There is no responsibility only free-will.  It is hard to mask yourself as a swimmer when your sinking; it is evident to everyone around. It is an easy road to certain death for all, because a sinker can only teach others how to sink.
The swimmers need to arise from the crowd and begin to take charge, teaching others to swim, and pulling up those that are drowning. If not then we’re all sinking.
Will you choose to sink, or swim…

hmmm since the last time we parted....

well alot has happened! i spent a month with 4 amazing girls in Africa, started college.... well maybe not so much has happened then. School is pretty ehhhhhh.... the most interseting classes i have is US History 1301 and Engish 1301. This is the intro to  my first essay we wrote, it's a personal essay so we could choose a person, place or event to write about....

The train came to a screeching stop. Mechanically I pulled down my black and white plaid suitcase from the overhead luggage rack, slung my black, pink, and white flowered backpack over my shoulders and followed the line of fellow passengers out into the train station. Surrounded by frantically moving people I located the exit gates. Swiping my ticket I briskly ascended the stairs that lead to my destination while dragging my poor suitcase behind. After each conquered step the view of the city could be seen, a smile and a sense of accomplishment appeared on my face. This is my town!

I'd say i'm proud of it! lol I've been practicing my British accent for our Christmas musical coming up, The Gospel According to Scrooge. It's pretty hilarious i must say! We get to dress like we're from the 1800s! i have a huge petticoat and an eight-layered shirt, and a hat to match (that i made myself)! :) My friend Liz is getting married this saturday! How crazy! Her bridal shower was today, it seems like everyone is getting married! One this weekend and 3 next year, i'm sure some more will pop up in the next year!

36 Days

hmmm okay so tomorrow, well technically today i will begin the 36 Day adventure to which i was called to about a year ago by Father Himself, but i will not be by myself... no siree!! (sp?) lol anyways my journey begins with the lovely land of Igosia and then Tuesday i will leave the U.S.!!! Please pray for all the teams that will be traveling to their desiganted destinations... pray for the light of God... pray for Him to shine through us to the people we will meet.... pray for protection over all of us... and anything else you can think of, it's quite late lol

Strong??.....

Yesterday someone told me that i was a strong person...whether meaning it as a compliment or not there is simply no way i'm like that by myself, or atleast by myself i don't feel strong... I'm only strong or what we think of as strong with the help of Father, thats how i get through each day, whatever happened or went down during the doesn't matter in the end because i have Christ by my side
